Kirpilä Art Collection will be open during the holiday season as usual, except on Christmas Day, December 25, and New Year’s Day, January 1, 2025.

Our programme for the end of the year still includes the traditional Sibelius Academy Lied Concert, held this year on Finnish Music Day, December 8, from 4 PM to 5 PM. Soprano Emma Hartikainen and pianist Tanja Niiranen will open the concert with Jean Sibelius’ classic Var det en dröm (Josef Julius Wecksell). The programme also features works by other remarkable composers such as Kaija Saariaho and Heta Aho, as well as pieces by Schubert, Rachmaninoff, and A. Mahler.

The launch event for Nautiskelijan ajanlasku, edited by Finlandia Prize-winning author Antti Järvi, will take place on December 11, from 4 PM to 5 PM. This book brings together a selection of the most captivating and witty pieces (in Finnish) by globetrotter and art collector Juhani Kirpilä, offering a humorous and evocative glimpse into Finnish society between the 1960s and 1980s. The event is open for all.

The final queer-themed guided tour of the year will be held on December 15, from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Guide Antti Solin will explore (in Finnish) art through LGBTQ+ perspectives and challenge normative interpretations.

We will kick off the year 2025 with inspiring tours, drawing evenings, and concerts. As we dive into spring, our programme will also feature a dance performance and knitting nights – promising a diverse and exciting schedule ahead!

Warm thanks to all our visitors and friends of Kirpilä Art Collection for this wonderful year!
We wish you beautiful and relaxing winter days.
